The Charm of the Mysterious Cinema Lost in the Sinai Desert!

Hidden among the dunes and sandy expanses of the Sinai desert, in Egypt, there once stood an enigmatic abandoned cinema, witness to a history that is lost in the sands of time. His story was captured by a curious gaze: that of the Estonian photographer, Henrik Valimägi, whose images brought this forgotten place back to life.

Legend has it that this unusual cinema saw the light in the early years of the new millennium thanks to the vision of an eccentric French citizen, a well-known figure named Dynn Eadel. The story goes that, after arriving in this desolate place with some friends, Eadel noticed the absence of a crucial element: a cinema.

Returning to Paris, he undertook the project with the support of investors, attracted by the proximity to Sharm El Sheikh, the renowned tourist resort. The result was extraordinary: a cinema with picturesque wooden seats and an old projector, baptized with the evocative name "La Tête dans Les Etoiles” (The head among the stars).

However, Eadel had not foreseen the hostility of the local community: for mysterious reasons, someone sabotaged the electric generator during the inauguration ceremony, condemning the cinema to a dark fate. In fact, neither that evening nor in the future, any film was ever shown, and the cinema sank into oblivion, becoming a surreal attraction for those who ventured nearby (GPS coordinates here).

Today, if you look for cinema in the desert, you will only find its ruins scattered among the dunes. Curious tourists, fascinated by its enigmatic history, discovered the site in an advanced state of ruin, with armchairs smashed to pieces. The desert, implacable, claims its share, and soon all that will remain of cinema is a faded memory in the vast Sinai desert.
