US President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs on trade partners with the United States, including Egypt and several Arab countries.

Trump decided to impose a 10 percent tariff on Egyptian imports entering the United States.

Trade between Egypt and the United States saw an increase during the first ten months of 2024, reaching $7.593 billion, including Egyptian exports to America worth approximately $1.95 billion, according to Al Arabiya channel.

Top five Egyptian exports most affected by Trump’s new tariffs

The top five main categories of Egyptian exports are naturally expected to be the most affected by Trump’s new tariffs.

Leading these goods is ready-made clothing, which constitutes 53.1 percent of Egypt’s exports to America, with exported clothing estimated at around $663.61 million, along with $363.05 million for knitted or crocheted goods.

In second place comes iron and steel at $202.62 million. Carpets and floor coverings rank third at $124.63 million, followed by vegetables and fruits valued at $95.65 million.

In fifth place is glass, with exports worth $70.14 million.
