MedFest Forum is offering a free, three-month workshop called “Script to Screen” to help you hone your short film scriptwriting skills.
Eight lucky participants, both amateur and professional, will be selected from Minya, Sohag,Beni Suef, Dakahlia, Beheira, Port Said, and Cairo. Not only will you receive expert guidance, but the Forum will also cover your accommodation and transportation costs.
Most importantly, two workshop participants will be awarded production grants valued at around LE250,000.
The workshop will be led by renowned film director and script consultant Ayman El-Amir.
El-Amir has an extensive experience, having contributed to films, such as “Goodbye Julia” and “Costa Brava” (selected for “Un Certain Regard” at Cannes). He also directed “The Brink of Dreams,” which participated in the Critics’ Week competition at Cannes.
But there’s more! MedFest is particularly interested in stories that explore mental and physical health. They want to see characters with depth and psychological complexity, tackling themes related to well-being.
The first phase of the program focuses on developing original health-related stories and turning them into complete screenplays. MedFest is committed to supporting these projects by offering production grants to two outstanding films!
As for what makes “From Script to Screen” program special, “The program is to be available to all writers, especially experienced ones. We are also keen to offer opportunities to Egyptian youth,” El-Naggar said, adding that, “Regarding the main themes this year, they are social species and their impact on different forms of violence, and increasing production grants. Interviews and presentations of these films will be available to a number of producers during the festival.”
