November boost: 3 European markets fuel the growth of Egypt’s tourism sector

The Egyptian Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee has announced that the current winter season is witnessing an increase in charter flights from three European markets, while British tourism has returned at high rates for the first time in 11 years.

Luxor has also witnessed the first gathering for agricultural tourism, indicating an increase in the average income from incoming tourism and attracting new investment opportunities in the tourism sector.

The Chairman of the Cultural Tourism Marketing Committee, Mohamed Othman, stated in a press release on Tuesday that three European countries – Spain, France, and Italy – are increasing the number of their charter flights.

Spain will increase its flights from the current nine to 14, he explained, while France will add four flights and Italy will add two, bringing the total number of weekly charter flights to 20 starting November.

Othman added that British tourism is returning at high rates this winter season for the first time in 11 years.

He noted that the increase in charter flights and the return of British tourism are increasing the number of tourist nights in hotels and Nile cruises, which are witnessing a large influx of tourists.

This is considered an added value to the average tourist spending, which currently stands at around US$140 per tourist night, compared to $120 last season.
