Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat received the Ambassador of the US in Cairo Herro Mustafa Garg and her accompanying delegation, to discuss enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the US in communications and information technology, such as in Egypt’s ambitious Knowledge City.

Established in the New Administrative Capital, the Knowledge City provides programs to support technological innovation and entrepreneurship, and build digital capabilities, in addition to supporting research, development and entrepreneurship in the field of assistive technologies.

The second phase of Knowledge City is currently underway, which will provide opportunities for international companies to expand their operations in the country.

The Egypt Informatics University for information technology, communication sciences, and related subjects, is located in the Knowledge City.

As the first specialized informatics university in Africa and the Middle East, it seeks to advance social and economic development in Egypt and its sisterly Arab countries by offering top-notch education and scientific research, as well as capacity-building programs and consulting services.

The university awards its degrees in cooperation with US universities.

Talaat noted the presence of major US companies in the Egyptian communications and information technology sector, in light of the multiple areas of cooperation between the two countries.

He also referred to his visit to the US back in September, which witnessed fruitful discussions with government officials and the private sector and resulted in more US investments into Egypt.
